About Dawson Ahrenstorff
Story comes first. My work is about helping people understand the world we live in and showing how culture forms, how moments bring communities together, and why places and people matter beyond the surface.
I grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa, and have been blessed to explore many corners of the United States through this camera of mine. I earned a degree in Film at Montana State and paired it with sports through the athletic department. After graduation I landed a job with LSU Athletics as a Creative Producer in Baton Rouge. Now, I am freelancing full time pursuing documentary storytelling.
The projects I connect with most are driven by a clear sense of purpose. When I get to absorb somebody's 'why' and then create a story in reflection of the way that person experiences life, the work becomes bigger and meaningful.
From local community traditions to national championships on the biggest stage, the goal is to always dig deeper and chase that thing that makes us feel alive.
